Melvin J. Busler (born January 10, 1959) is an American journalist,[1] and the current host of Whiz Quiz, returning after hosting season 44.[2]
Early life and education
Born in Watertown, NY[3], Busler graduated from Immaculate Heart Central School in 1977 and enrolled at Jefferson Community College.[4]
Career
In 1978, Busler was hired by WATN radio as a broadcaster.He was hired by WWNY Channel 7 in 1982 as a sports anchor, becoming full-time in 1984.[5] He awards the Athlete of the Week segment to a high school athlete in the Watertown area.[6]
Busler is involved in many community events, and has raised money for Disabled Persons Action Organization, Meals on Wheels, American Cancer Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.[1] He collaborated with Coyote Moon Vineyards to release Busler's Beauties Blush, a wine, with all proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society.[7] In 2022, Bulser was awarded the Israel A. Shapiro Citizenship Award for his community involvement.[8]
Busler was selected as the host for season 44 of Whiz Quiz in October 2024, returning as the current host for season 45 in October 2025.[2]
