Emin Mammadov (Azerbaijani: Emin Məmmədov; born 27 December 1970, Baku) is an Azerbaijani cultural manager, curator, and art advisor. Chairman of Azerkhalcha OJSC and the Director of QGallery, an art space in Baku, Azerbaijan.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Mammadov was born in Baku. He attended graphic arts classes at the studio of artist G.Zheglov in Moscow (1983–1985). Studied at the Azim Azimzade Azerbaijan State Art School (1985–1989). Graduated in 1995 from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts, Department of Graphics. Completed training programs in Berlin (Druckwerkstatt Bethanien), participated in an international contemporary art program in the United States. Since 2017, member of Azerbaijan’s Expert Committee on Monuments, and since 2024 Vice President ICOM Azerbaijan.[4]
Career
Director of QGallery in Baku (established in 1999). In 2007 founded QGallery Berlin[5]. Art Advisor to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center[6]. Since 2021, a Chairman of Azerkhalcha OJSC.[7][8] Member of Azerbaijan’s Expert Committee on Monuments and Vice President of ICOM Azerbaijan.[9] Associate Professor at the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts since 2019.

Curatorial work and projects
Mammadov has curated exhibitions in Azerbaijan and internationally, including projects associated with the Azerbaijan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale[15] (2015, 2017, 2019, 2022). He has been involved in international exhibitions such as Maiden Tower art festival (2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018), "Music in Stone" Sculpture Symposium (2016).
Selected projects
- 2024-current – MAMA “Mother Nature” — art project debuted at the Heydar Aliyev Center (Baku) in November 2024 as part of the COP29 event. The exhibition began its journey in Baku[16], Manama[17], Roma[18], London[19], Tbilisi[20], Berlin[21], Tirana[22], Geneva.
- The International Carpet Festival held in Baku in 2024, 2025[23], 2026, organized by the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher" and Azerkhalcha OJSC, with support from the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO).[24][25]
- Baku Art Weekend — a contemporary art initiative aimed at fostering collaboration between local and international artists.[26]
- “17 Faces of Action”, a contemporary art initiative aimed at collaboration between local and international artists.[27]
- Curated by Emin Mammadov “Genetic code of memory. Azerbaijani carpets”, Museum of Decorative Arts and Design (Riga, Latvia). Exhibition was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia.[28]
- Presentation of the an author’s work carpet – a unique triptych, carpet composition “State Architect. Life Encyclopedia”, in the framework of the Vagif’s Poetry Days (Shusha). Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.[29][30]
- Curated by Emin Mammadov and Shirin Melikova “Seven beauties” exhibition, All-Russian Museum of Decorative Art (Moscow, Russia).[31]
