Datasite (previously known as Merrill Corporation) is a software company that provides virtual data rooms and related tools for use in the mergers and acquisitions process. Datasite is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota.[1]

History

The company was founded in 1968 as K.F. Merrill Company, initially focused on financial printing.[2] Rusty Wiley was named CEO of Merrill in 2014 after a career at IBM.[3] The company rebranded to Datasite from Merrill in 2020, as the business shifted focus to M&A software from financial printing.[4]

In December 2020, Datasite was acquired by CapVest Partners LLP, an international private equity firm.[5]

Beginning in 2021, Datasite made acquisitions to expand its markets and products.[6][7]

As of 2025, Datasite had approximately 2,000 employees and supported deals in around 180 countries.[8]
